OrgTraks contains numerous features that you won't find with other charting solutions. The following table illustrates the major product features that set OrgTraks apart from other solutions:

Viewing Features
OrgTraks incorporates multiple views of the same information that are tightly integrated so that moving between views is seamless and intuitive.
Searchable Directory Quickly search for people by entering name, address, or any other identifying information. Drill-down to any of the multiple organization views from the search results.

Presents a hierarchy of expandable folders for each manager. Each record is presented with additional directory information.
Chart
View
Dynamically generates graphical charts from the database as JPEG files. Charts can also be dropped directly into Microsoft Office applications.

Provides fast interactive browsing of organization charts. The Organizer allows privileged users to edit chart hierarchies.
Profile
View
Displays a manager and all of the direct reports. Record fields are displayed based on access rights of the user.

Charting Features
OrgTraks provides many configurable options to control how charts are created and displayed.
Visualization
Rule-Sets*
Active rules override default colors and defaults on a box based on the value of data attributes to graphically compare and contrast boxes within a chart.
XML Box Templates* Defines a sub-set of HTML that can be used for complete control of how information is displayed in a box including fonts, colors, sizes, and alignment.
Multiple Layouts* Each box within a chart can use a different hierarchical, matrix, or directory layout for the direct reports.
Custom Boxes * Each box in a chart can use a different shape, style, fill, and data template to graphically visualize information.

Boxes can either be a rectangle, a rounded rectangle, or an octagon. Box shapes can be set individually based on data attributes.

Fill Type*
Hides the information and only displays the navigation buttons, leaving a skeleton that shows the overall chart structure.
Masked
Fill Type*
Displays the box at the normal size, but displays a series of lines instead of the template. Can be used for undefined positions, or to hide details.
Multiple
Record Types*
Different boxes within a chart may display data from different primary tables. Chartables are used to define each of the tables that can be charted.
Employee Photos Employee images can be toggled on and off, or disabled entirely by the administrator.
Custom Background Chart background can be set to a default color, or can be set to use a image for a textured or company logo background.

Ordering
The peer sort order is preserved in the database so that they will always appear in the last order set by a user with edit privileges.
Line/Box Colors Colors can be changed to use default company colors and overridden based on data attributes.
Editing Features
OrgTraks editing provides a robust user interface for people who have to maintain large organizational charts. Only users with the correct permissions can modify organization charts.
Drag & Drop Editing Easily reorganize charts by using "drag & drop" to change the reporting hierarchy.
Unlimited Undo/Redo* All edit changes made in the organizer can be undone up to the last save.
Right-Click Menu* A secondary menu can be displayed by using the right mouse button. The secondary menu provides access to the toolbar options and some advanced features.
Keyboard Short-Cuts* Arrow keys provide quick charts navigation. Short-cut keys simplify selecting and re-ordering of boxes.
Multiple Selections* Multiple boxes can be selected by holding down the shift key or by dragging a rubber-band box around the desired boxes. Many of the editing commands will affect all currently affected boxes.
Quick Selections* Quickly select all direct reports or indirect reports to a manager.
Intuitive Toolbars Toolbar buttons provide easy access to most commonly used functions.
Multiple Charts Multiple charts can be managed by chart editor roles and only charts marked as public can be viewed by chart viewer roles.
Printing Features
In addition to HTML, OrgTraks produces high-quality vector-based PDF documents that can be printed, or saved for later use.
Single Page
Chart
Produces a chart that is scaled to a single page. The page is automatically converted to landscape if the fit is better. The chart is created using vector graphics that can be printed to large format printers without pixelization.

Produces an organization chart at 100% of scale using the minimum number of pages. Each page is overlapped so that they can be taped together to produce a chart that can be hung on a wall.

Intranet Centric OrgTraks was designed from the ground up for Intranets. All user and administrative features are accessed with a web-browser.
High Performance Test charts with over 10,000 boxes have been used with no appreciable performance degradation. The organizer used about 1MB for every 1,000 boxes.
Dynamic Charting Up to date organization charts are re-created on demand to always represent the current structure stored in your database.

Integration Features
Runs Stand-Alone A database server is not required by using the Microsoft JET database engine on Windows based computers. The JET database is used by Microsoft Access and is installed with the Microsoft Office Suite.
JDBC Support Works with any JDBC compliant databases including, but not limited to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, DB2, and MySQL.
Sample HR Database* A sample HRIS database is included that can be populated with your existing data or replaced with pre-existing database tables.
Integrate Existing Data An existing database can be used in lieu of the sample HR database provided so that existing data will not have to be replicated or synchronized.
Custom Fields New fields can be added to the sample HR tables and displayed within the organization chart. All security features will work with the new fields.
Integrated Help Help text is integrated with every page. The help text can be modified by the administrator to add installation specific notes.
